The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, Guided Edition

Creative Curriculum

A research-based early childhood curriculum that uses exploration and discovery through hands-on, project-based investigations to foster confidence, creativity, and critical thinking in children from infants to kindergarten. It balances teacher-directed and child-initiated learning and focuses on five key principles, including positive relationships, social-emotional competence, constructive play, the importance of the physical environment, and teacher-family partnerships.
“I couldn’t be more grateful for the care and education my daughter has received at the Yellow Springs Community Children’s Center. The center is a wonderful blend of warmth and structure, offering a range of creative activities that help my daughter grow both emotionally and intellectually. It’s reassuring to know that she is not only safe and happy, but also thriving.”

Conscious Discipline

Conscious Discipline is a brain-based, social-emotional learning program that teaches adults and children to manage emotions and build connections, shifting from reactive discipline to a conscious, skill-building approach for better behavior, self-regulation, and overall wellness at home and at school. It emphasizes adults managing their own states first (composure) to teach kids skills like problem-solving and empathy, using tools like the Brain State Model and Seven Powers for Adults.
